Like BestCrypt, Cryptainer PE ($45) uses strong encryption and creates a transparent virtual disk with files you access as if they were not encrypted. Cryptainer's interface is similar to BestCrypt's, but the program works only with Windows, and a single license limits you to one 100MB virtual drive, which is too small to be practical for most users. An included utility encrypts files for e-mail and can even make the files self-extracting.
